How does hydrogen peroxide work in the body?

Bio-oxidative medicine adds oxygen directly to the tissues in the form of a lone oxygen atom which is highly reactive. Hydrogen Peroxide is a normal part of metabolism and is produced constantly. Peroxisomes are units within white blood cells that are mixed with anaerobic bacteria or viruses that cause disease. The pathogenic microbe is neurtralized by the singlet oxygen inside the peroxisome. They both then disappear. This happens naturally in our bodies without introducing external H2O2. The chemical reaction is:

H2O2= H2O + O-

When given intravenously, H2O2 encounters two enzymes, Caltalase and Cytochrome-C. Catalase drives the above reaction to completion immediately, however the portion bound to Cytochrome-C circulates for about 40 minutes. This allows the H2O2/cytochrome-C complex to spread throughout the body and the benefits made available to all the cells.

As mentioned above H2O2 is produced by the body naturally and assists in neutralizing toxins and killing anaerobic bacteria and viruses. However, when the body becomes overwhelmed with pathogenic microbes and enviornmental toxins, the immune system goes into its secondary line of defense, the tedious process of analyzing and identifying microbes and making specific antibodies to deal with each one. By this time, the person is clinically ill and showing chronic symptoms of infection such as fatigue, skin outbreaks, headaches, joint pain, etc. The patient goes to their family doctor who then treats them for the symptoms with pain medications and steroids for the skin outbreak or antidepressants for the fatigue. Some may be fortunate enough to get referred to a rheumatologist who may do some blood studies for infections. Very few will ever see an infectious medicine doctor. The great thing about hydrogen peroxide IV’s is that the therapy is not specific to a particular microbe. It assists the innate immune response in neutralizing anaerobic viruses and bacteria. So even if extensive blood studies have not been done to identify the pathogenic microbe, the patient will benefit from the h2O2 IV. Common chronic infections that hydrogen peroxide IVs are used to treat are Epstein Barr virus, influenza, candidiasis (fungal) and any cold or flu virus. It has also helped speed up the recovery rate for COVID-19 and prevent fluid build up in the lungs. Hydrogen peroxide produces oxygen bubbles in the alveoli of the lungs (tiny air sacs), helping to lift mucus up so it can be coughed out. Thus hydrogen peroxide IV’s benefit patients with COPD, emphysema and asthma.

In addition to assisting the first line of defense, hydrogen peroxide also assists in the clearance of environmental toxins. The highly reactive single oxygen atom oxidizes biological waste products and industrial toxins rendering them inert. It also interacts with cell walls and cell proteins which initiates the release of large amounts of anti-inflammatory compounds which essentially turns on the immune system. Hydrogen peroxide also increases the rate of enzymatic metabolism within the mitochondria of the cells so that enough energy is available for the cell to cleanse itself of toxins, bacteria, viruses, and fungi and still carry on its normal day to day functions.

Hydrogen peroxide has also been shown to dissolve calcium deposits and cholesterol in atherosclerosis. Therefore, it helps with vascular disease and cardiovascular disease. The IV’s can help with lessening angina, leg pain, and transient ischemic attacks which cause dizziness. In addition to improving vascular health the appearance of skin improves.

Is Hydrogen Peroxide safe as an IV?

Yes, it is safe because it is already in your body. One an even take it orally diluted with water, however you do not get the same oxygenation benefits that the intravenous route offers. The IV solution also includes Manganese and Magnesium to protect the veins and assist in tissue absorption. The average amount of H2O2 one receives is 3 ml in 250 ml of saline. The number of IVs depends on the illness and how progressed it is.  A minimum of 6 IVs is recommended for chronic conditions and then we reasses to see if more is needed. The patient should disclose all medications to the physician before treatment. There are no known contraindications to the therapy but caution is taken if the patient is on blood thinners. The patient may experience a Herzeimer’s reaction such as nausea, headaches, body aches and fatigue. This the attributed to the die off of pathogenic microbes.
