Woman at sunriseKetamine infusions is a new therapy being used to treat resistant anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The most common treatment for these imbalances is medications. Unfortunately, the medications are limited in that they help balance neurotransmitters and often do not work. They also come with side effects such as weight gain, low libido and erectile dysfunction. Ketamine helps to improve neural pathways and communication and offer more hope in a long term solution to anxiety, depression, and PTSD.

What is Ketamine?

Ketamine has been around since the 1960’s as an anesthetic drug and is also used as a sedative in the operating room. At lower doses it controls pain and lessens the need for addictive opoids. Ketamine is an NMDA receptor blocker and improves synaptic connections.

What is a Ketamine Treatment like?

A ketamine infusion usually lasts a little under an hour. You will have a private room where you can rest to relaxing music in a reclining chair. Your blood pressure will be monitored throughout the treatment. Some patients experience mild dissassociation which is transient. Many patients start feeling good after first the treatment. The recommended protocol is 6 infusions in the first two weeks to get a long lasting benefit. If you continue with maintainance therapy you will continue to enjoy the benefits long after the medication has left the body.
