Sermorelin: An Effective and Safe Alternative to Growth Hormone
Sermorelin may be a great alternative to increasing growth hormone. Human growth hormone which is abundant as a youth, declines as we age contributing to more body fat and less muscle mass. Growth hormone is the anti-aging hormone that helps us with energy, maintaining a strong immune system, and strong bones.
While using HGH is prohibited unless used for underdevelopment, HIV, or AIDS, Sermorelin is not prohibited as an off label use for healthy older adults. HGH has side effects such as gynecomastia in men (increase in breast tissue), swelling, and increased risk for Diabetes II and cancer. Also, using HGH can result in decreased effectiveness overtime.
Sermorelin is a growth hormone secretegogue which means it stimulates the pituitary gland to produce growth hormone. It’s action is the same as that of growth hormone releasing hormone. Using this type of therapy is safe because Sermorelin is regulated by the release of somatostatin. Therefore the release of growth hormone is at physiological amounts and intermittent, unlike the “short wave” release of HGH. This means the tissues do not down regulate themselves to the growth hormone as seen when using HGH. Using Sermorelin to stimulate the pituitary gland slows the hormonal aging process in adults, so that results are seen both anatomically and physiologically.
The protocol is simple and patients self-inject at night. Sermorelin is only available at compounding pharmacies with a prescription. This is a great anti-aging therapy for otherwise healthy adults.
